Kambo is the traditional name for the secretion of the Phyllomedusa bicolor, also known as the giant monkey tree frog, found in the Amazon rainforest. Indigenous tribes such as the Matsés, Katukina, and Yawanawá have used Kambo for centuries as a cleansing ritual to purify the body, strengthen the spirit, and increase stamina and resilience.
The secretion is applied to small burns on the skin, where it enters the lymphatic system and produces a strong purgative effect. Kambo is non-psychoactive, meaning it does not induce visions or altered consciousness, but it is considered a powerful energetic and physical cleanse.
Ceremonies are conducted with reverence, intention, and grounding support. The experience typically lasts 15–30 minutes, followed by a period of rest, integration, and hydration.

Kambo sessions are conducted in silence to support inner awareness and full presence. Participants are invited to remain quiet and grounded throughout the experience, honoring the intensity and depth of the medicine as it works on physical, emotional, and energetic levels.
